For the 3rd consecutive year, the social studies team is the UIL Academic State Meet champion! Moises Manzano earned 5th place, Austin Obregon earned 2nd place, and Cindy Tortledo nabbed the individual gold medal! Also part of the back-to-back-to-back championship team is Oscar Lugo. They are coached by Heather Olivarez. We are so #MoultonProud of each of you!

It’s a THREE-PEAT!!!! The MHS spelling team won the 1A state championship today, which makes it the third year in a row that our hard-working students have captured the team gold! This year’s team includes freshman Travis Haikenwaelder, senior Angelica Manzano, junior Julianna Buehring, and senior Leslie Juarez, and together they tallied a score of 231, followed by Kennard with 219, and Nazareth with 205. Travis turned in a 78 and in a tie breaker won the bronze medal as an individual, and Leslie finished with a 77 to garner 5th place individually after winning her tie breaker too! Julianna rounded out the team score with a 76, and Angelica’s 74 made for an outstandingly consistent performance by the spellers at the state meet. The team is coached by Heather Olivarez and Jamie Dornak. Congratulations, spellers!!! You are back-to-back-to-back state champions, you embody the meaning of excellence, pride, and tradition, and we couldn’t be more #MoultonProud of you!!!!!!! Way to go!

Extremely proud of these four kids today. Although they were just shy of some hardware, they each scored their personal best, and they are still able to call themselves the 4th best team in the state. With two freshmen, one sophomore, and one junior, the future is extremely bright at MHS! Kuddos, kiddos, on another successful UIL season. Time for summer break!
