Character Counts!

 
This week we celebrate Character Counts Week! In Character Counts Week, we incorporate the Six Pillars of good character. The Six Pillars of Character are traits that are used within our Character Counts Week to help instill a positive school climate and a culture of kindness, making schools a safe environment for students to learn. The Six Pillars of Kindness are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
 
 
Monday - Responsibility - Today we are focusing on Responsibility.Ways to be more responsible are to set a great example for all people, do what you are asked to do, discipline yourself, think before you act or talk, and turn your homework on time! Here's a video that will help you have a better understanding of why it's so important to be responsible.
 
Tuesday - Fairness
Today we are focusing on Fairness. Ways to be more fair is to play by the rules, be open-minded and listen to others’ opinions, don’t take advantage of others, don’t blame others just because, and be fair to ALL people. Here is a video to help you have a better understanding why it is so important to be fair!!
Wednesday - Trustworthiness
Today we are focusing on Trustworthiness. Ways to be more trustworthy are to be honest when communicating with others, don't cheat or steal, be reliable-do what you say you will do and don't go back on promises, keep and build a good reputation, and be loyal and stand by your family, friends, classmates, teachers/coaches, and your school!!

Thursday - Citizenship
Today we are focusing on citizenship. Ways to be a better citizen: Do your share to make your home, school, community, and greater world better, volunteer and get involved in community affairs, vote, be a superb neighbor, abide by laws and rules and respect the authority that makes them.

Friday - Respect
Today we are focusing on Respect and caring. Ways to be more respectful and caring are to Use good manners and language to all people, treat others how you want to be treated (Golden Rule!), be accepting of other people if they have differences, don’t mistreat or threaten others, and deal peacefully with smart remarks and insults.Be kind, express gratitude, show empathy for ALL people, be compassionate and show you care to everyone, forgive others, help out people who are in need.
