On October 21st, 2020, Tahera Rahman, a reporter for KXAN in Austin, came to visit Moulton ISD! Ms. Rahman is working on a story explaining the positive impact on student performance when electrical companies, like GVEC, team up with small rural schools to provide needed hot spots. Last March when the pandemic sent students home for the remainder of the year, GVEC provided MISD with 20 hotspots to be used by students and staff members in desperate need of those services. The devices were provided at a minimum monthly fee for the district and at no cost to the students or staff. Ms. Rahman interviewed our own Nadia Ibarra, a freshman at Moulton High School, who used the device during the pandemic and for a few months into the new school year. She also expressed how valuable having internet access was to her and to her two elementary aged brothers for helping with instruction even when doing packets. She explained how much better it was to use the hotspot and her computer as opposed to using your own cell phone that doesn't always display some content as it should. We are so very proud of our new celebrity, Nadia Ibarra, and are thankful for Tahera Rahman and KXAN for thinking of our students here at Moulton ISD.
